This year's beauty trends aren't for the faint-hearted. MUA's are going full-throttle with their artistic interpretations. Makeup is no longer a beauty category, it's transitioning into accessories since shoppers look to complement their style with nail decals and eyeliner as they would with belts and earrings.
The quirkiest, most unique nail designs have emerged this year, ranging from detailed pictures, ombre and matte designs to rhinestone embellishments and small decals. Celebrities including Ariana Grande and Kylie Jenner took to witty stickers and designs, while influencers like WuzG00d go the full mile to accent everyday looks with themed nail designs. Some even add actual jewelry to their nails, a trend created by Korean nail artist Unistella.
Colorful eyeshadow is spring/summer 2019's stand-out make-up trend. Usually seen in bold geometric shapes across the eyelid, this electric trend gets playful with bright palettes and foregoes warm tones like gold and bronze. In the next several months you can expect bold eyeshadow to finish the year strong with jewel tones, white, and fiery colors like red or orange.
Festival season is in full effect, meaning the glitter craze is at an all-time high. Whether dedicated makeup artists like itstasha create detailed glitter art or concert goers get into full character with a face of sparkling decals, the opportunity for creativity is endless.
Like bold eyeshadow, makeup artists are creating eye-catching moments with subtle abstract details. Here only eye-liner is used, either to create multiple thin lines or layered for thick accents. For a lasting effect, color liners are often used as well as white liners.
