Holiday Tracker: Week Two

Holiday Tracker: Week Two
  • shares

This week starts the feeding frenzy of discounts in retail land, right? Well, not exactly, it's been going on for a while now. Our holiday tracker breaks down, in real-time, the trends you need to know in promotions, discounting, and sell-through across the key three retail sectors - Mass, Mid, and Premium.

The biggest movers from last week? Promotions are edging upwards, and the volume of emails and active promotions is also on the upswing. But keep in mind the average promotional discount has been at or near these levels (roughly 40%) for months.

Item-level discounts are actually down in the Mass (Value) sector and also down a few percentage points in Mid- and Premium sectors.

What's least likely to be on sale, you might be asking? The Sleepwear, Intimates, and Bag categories have consistently lower levels of discount penetration (likelihood of being on discount).

What's selling out? Shoes are performing well across sectors, both in- and past-season styles.

Stay tuned here next week for our update on Black Friday and Cyber Monday performance.
