Post Fourth of July, it seems like we are all getting back to business-as-usual, including the promotional market. While the average promotional value and the percent of the assortment that's on sale are flat to last week, we see new price cuts are actually down 5%.
One thing to note, though, is the build-up to the great "Prime Day" held by Amazon on July 11th (that's tomorrow!). Take for instance JCPenney's "Cyber in July" sale that is giving us a hint of what's to come for the retailer's response to Amazon's big day.
