What's New: March 25

This week in the "What's New" section of retailers' sites centered around prints and textures. These trending themes were polarizing - on one side of the spectrum were neutral tones and smooth satin, and on the other psychedelic tie-dye print pleated texture. Without further adieu, here are this week's highlights.
Tie Dye
The DIY print Tie Dye has shed its pubescent roots and is back with a contemporary upgrade. While the print can easily be found across all retailers, not all tie-dye is created equal. This unisex trend includes splotchy, almost acid-dyed options, (similar to our selections from Top Shop), ombre, and watercolor inspired mixes.

New Collections
After the release of new sping capsules late last week from H&M and Zara, these studio collections will frequent the inboxes and “What’s New” sections for the remainder of March into early April. While both retailers pulled inspiration in drylands, (the canyons and desert of Sedona for H&M and Marrakech for Zara), we expect to see similar themes emerge in contemporary assortments. Key trends include zebra print, organic textures, and most importantly: sandy tones.

Pleats
Thanks to the 90s and Issey Miyake's genius Pleats Please line, pleats continue to maintain a classic allure while covering more practical pieces such as chiffon tops or front pleated trousers. You'll be sure to spot one-two new items per week.

Slip Skirts
The slip dress trend still lives — and its satin sister the slip skirt is a cult favorite as of now. Also known as the ‘bias’ skirt, iIts light, easy-to-wear features have helped it to sell out at retailers in recent months. This slinky number is the number one contender for skirt style during 2019, especially since its layering options leave room for versatility and seasonal transition.

Belted Swimwear
Cinched waists frequented the AW19 runways and street style recently, and its waist accentuating features have trickled into summer trends. Belted swimwear residing in this week’s ‘What’s New’ sections will venture away from typical drawstring closures and enter into a realm of fashionable hardware. Even better- cinched waist isn’t limited to one piece swimwear options!
